Begin with the legal entity
A service can be promoted under a memorable brand while the relevant authorisation belongs to a particular legal entity. Before relying on a claim about regulation, identify the name of that entity and the service you intend to use. This is a verification question. It is separate from whether a digital asset is likely to rise in value or whether the service is suitable for you.
Read the register for its actual scope
VARA maintains a public register that distinguishes providers with full licences from those holding in-principle approval, with information on authorised activities. [1] Check the current entry and read its status carefully. Do not treat the appearance of a name as blanket permission for every service advertised elsewhere. Where another jurisdiction or regulator is relevant, use the authority appropriate to that activity rather than assuming one register covers the entire UAE.
Match the claim to the activity
Write the activity being proposed in plain language, then compare it with the official entry and the provider’s contractual documents. Keep a dated record of the source. If a claim cannot be matched clearly, ask for clarification before committing assets. A professional-looking website, a social-media account or a displayed logo cannot resolve a mismatch between an advertised service and the documented authorisation.
Keep regulation and investment analysis separate
Authorisation does not eliminate market, custody, operational or other risks. The research task also includes understanding the product, costs and terms. This article supplies no legal opinion or investment recommendation. Crypto in the UAE provides a related book destination, and the official register remains the place to check current entries. Use each resource for its purpose: education for structure, documentation for terms and official sources for verification.
